Investing in entrepreneurs means investing in the future, in innovation, in solving the world's greatest problems. But investors today are still falling short when it comes to allocating their resources equally, as evidenced by the fact that only about 1% of venture-funded startup founders are Black.
It's clear that there's a lot of ground to make up.
Since the launch of our joint initiative Tech for Black Founders in partnership with Amplitude, Branch, mParticle, and Radar in 2020, we've been working to help level the playing field for underserved founders. The mission of Tech For Black Founders? Creating an ecosystem that provides free resources and technology to a cohort of Black-founded businesses, empowering them to drive growth and revenue. Startups like Plain Sight, a new networking community, have applied to be part of the program and have been able to level up their customer engagement efforts to improve retention.
This month, that effort has been recognized by TrustRadius, the business technology review site, as part of the company's 2021 Tech Cares Awards.
TrustRadius recognized 100 standout technology companies for supporting their communities through corporate social responsibility by promoting volunteerism, fostering robust diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, making charitable contributions and participating in fundraising, strengthening workplace culture, and demonstrating support for environmental sustainability.
“We're excited to announce our second annual Tech Cares Award winners,” said TrustRadius CEO Vinay Bhagat. “The past two years have tested the tech community. We've been inspired by watching leaders in the B2B technology industry pursue meaningful progress in social, environmental, and cultural spaces. Not only do we feel that these companies are deserving of recognition—we also consider them a great example as we build a stronger future together.”
As part of the 2021 awards, TrustRadius received over 150 applications and vetted them to select the final award recipients, all of whom met the company's community service and social responsibility standards.
Submissions for nominations were open to any B2B technology company with a presence on TrustRadius and anyone could nominate an organization of their choosing for potential recognition in connection with for their acts of volunteerism, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and more.
We're grateful to have received the 2021 Tech Cares Award from TrustRadius and, with the launch of our new Social Impact department, we are continuing the work of strengthening our DEI efforts.
