Just in time for April, we’re excited to announce the release of Appboy’s newest user engagement feature, an enhancement to the adaptive scheduling capabilities of our market-leading Intelligent Delivery campaigns. Designed to be used in conjunction with our conversion event tracking feature set, we’re calling this new offering “Appboy Siege.”

Appboy Siege is an engagement solution for situations where getting more user conversions is absolutely critical. Perhaps you’ve deep-linked to an online poll and need more users to vote before a deadline, you need users to confirm their email addresses, or you need a few thousand more in-app purchases to make payroll for the month. Attrition is the new retention, and Appboy Siege will help you encourage your users to convert quicker than ever by gently, but firmly, reminding them of actions that they need to take within your app.

Appboy Siege leverages a proprietary “Exponential Pile-on” algorithm to send your users messages at increasing frequency until they trigger a conversion event that you select. Two hours after the first message is sent, we’ll send a follow-up message to all recipients who have yet to convert. We’ll send a second reminder one hour afterwards and further reminders at decreasing time intervals until we’re sending one message every fifteen seconds. Additionally, our in-house message generation algorithms will help you optimize your message over time to impart the desired level of urgency:

In order to prevent conversion drops while a Siege campaign is running, Appboy will automatically ignore requests from users to unsubscribe from push notifications or emails for the duration of the schedule. Our initial tests have shown a 23% increase in conversions when users are prevented from “tapping out.”
